About Martyn

The experience I bring to what I do

I am a globally experienced Senior Executive and management consultant with over 30 years' experience in shaping and leading strategic change in complex organisations across Australasia, Europe, the United States, Latin America, and Africa. 


My focus is on collaborating with senior leaders to help shape and navigate operating model and workforce transformation to achieve strategic outcomes. I have a proven track record of partnering with CXOs and Boards during my 17 years as a management consultant at Deloitte, as well as in senior leadership roles at SABMiller, Fletcher Building, and BNZ. 


My experience spans a wide range of sectors and clients, notably with global private sector clients including Wrigley, Gillette, BP Refining & Marketing, and Castrol; large national businesses; central government entities such as the NHS and the Ministry of Primary Industries; and not-for-profit organizations like Lotto NZ, OSPRI, and Visionwest Community Trust. 


This diverse experience enables me to draw on invaluable learnings, identify patterns, and bring fresh perspectives from both within and outside the organizations I support. 


In November 2020, I founded my own independent consulting business, continuing to provide senior executive consulting services to global and large national clients on their operating model design and workforce transformation challenges. Recent clients include Fonterra, Air New Zealand, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, Fisher & Paykel Appliances, NZ Post, the University of Auckland, Genesis, and TSB.

How I approach the work I do

I believe that effective and lasting operating model and workforce transformation requires a systemic approach - thoughtful application of the right organizational levers, supported by adaptive leaders who foster change readiness in an increasingly complex environment. 


I also believe that the best consultants enable capability in their clients, working collaboratively to shape the right practical path forward, build essential skills, and take smart actions to achieve desired outcomes. 


I offer consulting and thought-partnering services to senior leaders navigating complex change, including strategic operating model reviews, facilitation of operating model design and transition, workforce strategy development, and strategic workforce planning.
